Phil Dougan
Phil has been involved in a highly diverse compliment of law suits and dispute resolution proceedings: from precedent setting cases in the BC Court of Appeal, to debt collection in the Provincial Court’s Small Claims Division, Phil sees claims regarding strata bylaws; neighbour disputes, insurance claims, debt collection, land transfers, financing, defamation, residential tenancies, wills and estate matters, commercial leasing, and many more…."Diverse" is an excellent word to describe Phil's life and experience. He comes to the law having worked in business, charity and relief work. He was born in Scotland; raised in England, and has lived in Ontario, Jamaica, the Philippines and lately in Vancouver for 14 years. He is married and has eight children.Phil is a director of CCI Vancouver Chapter – the Canadian Condominium Institutewhich is a national non-profit dedicated to educating the stakeholders in the condominium industry; Planted, a non-profit organization developing urban farming opportunities, The Xtreme Theatre Society providing theatre experience and productions for about 150 homes-schooled children and teens; and a member of West Vancouver Baptist Church. Phil is also chair of the CBA’s ADR section (Alternative Dispute Resolution) dealing with mediations and arbitrations as well as new or informal dispute resolution techniques.Phil received a BA from Trinity Western University in 1990 and a Bachelor of Laws from UBC in 2006. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in May 2008.
